Ice Cream Invitationals 3: Triple Threat Update

It’s been just over a week since we announced that Ice Cream Uploads was hosting its third Invitational, since then we have announced three
teams of three players, with each captain sourcing their own teammates.

We wanted to put together an article to provide more information on the tournament format so that you can
easily follow everything as it happens from the comfort of your own front room!

This is the first event that we’ve implemented a group stage *and* knockout stage. This gives every one of our eight teams the opportunity to have more than one chance at
making it further in the competition, compared to the one-shot format we have previously utilised. Here’s the full rundown of the day:

 

  • The event is set to take place on Friday 28th February 2020
  • The Invitational will begin at 18:30pm (GMT)
  • Eight teams (24 players) will take part
  • Teams will be split into two groups of four
  • The top two teams from each group will go through to the knockout stages
  • 1st of group A will play 2nd of group B and vice versa
  • Semi-finals will be a two-legged affair with no away goals
  • If the scores are still tied after two legs, a third match will be played until half time. If there are still no goals scored by that point, we’ll continue to full time, and then onto extra time and penalties (should they be required).
  • The captains will be streaming their matches and we’ll also feature their broadcasts on our channel, so we can commentate whilst giving you scores of the other matches in the group as they come in. Links to all the streamers channels will be available via commands in our chat so there’s no chance of you missing a thing!
  • Club teams (No myClub or International teams)
  • Extra time + pens (In the knockout stages)
